Hi! Welcome back to the Makeup Madness UK Blog and the first post of 2019!
I thought that I would share some of my March makeup favourites today! Some of these products are new to me, some are products that I have rediscovered and the rest are staples in my collection but all of them were my must haves in March!
1. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Foundation
This lovely foundation was a staple of mine about 3 years ago but as I started getting into higher end makeup and found foundations like Estee Lauder Double Wear and Urban Decay All Nighter it was put to the back of my mind. However, this month I decided to give it another go for just a chilled day in the house when I didn't want to use my 'best' makeup. When I first applied it I realised that it was a much better coverage than I remembered and the consistency was quite thick, although these characteristics aren't too everyones tastes I was happily surprised. I like that the product has SPF 20 and there are quite a wide range of shades. Of course the price is also a bonus retailing at £8.29 and I think for anybody looking for a medium to high coverage product on a budget this is a definite winner!

2. Beauty Bakerie Flour Setting Powder
Since I started using makeup at around 15 I have always used the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and although it is still one of my favourites, this month it got kicked off the top spot by this Beauty Bakerie product. This is the first product I have used by the American brand and it is definitely one I will be repurchasing. I had heard good things about the loose powder last year so when it came into Boots at Christmas as part of a gift set I was so excited to try it and it definitely did not disappoint. Although I was a little nervous about using a loose powder for the first time it exceeded my expectations, it sets my makeup beautifully and is also great for baking under the eyes. In addition to this there is loads of product so you don't have to be stingy when using it all over the face. Since buying it I have also tried out the Kat Von D Lock-It Setting Powder and although the Kat product was nice and did the job it just wasn't as good at setting my make up.
3. Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer
This product, not the be confused with the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer (which I also love), is a new find for me. I bought it in a set from Boots in the January sales and to be honest I only bought the set for the primer and disregarded the reset of its contents until this month. After running out of my usual Simple moisturiser I found this product in my drawer and saw that it was described as primer and moisturiser in 1 so used it under my eyes and around my nose before doing my makeup. Instantly I found it very hydrating and moisturising but also that it helped my under eye concealer to stay put for longer and not crease as much, I guess this is due to the priming aspect. Although I know that this product in its full size it quite expensive (£30 for 30ml) and that it would be likely cheaper to buy a separate moisturiser and primer I love how easy it is to apply and how a little pump can go a long way!
4. Benefit BADgal Bang Mascara
As far as Mascara's go, there aren't may I consider staples in my collection purely because my eyelashes are very straight and weak so any mascara I use doesn't really have much effect. Having said that, this is the only mascara that I can say without hesitation that I love. Since I purchased it months ago I rotated between it and Too Faced's Better Than Sex but every time I come back to the Benefit product. It is the only mascara that seems to hold a curl (that's if I can be bothered to curl my lashes!) for a decent amount of time and it actually seems to have the volumising effect that is promoted. In addition to this, it seems to have all of the usual good stuff such as no smudging, little clumping and it is waterproof. If this mascara can have a positive impact on my lashes then trust me it will do on normal lashes!!
5. Huda Beauty Gemstone Obsessions Palette

As many people know, Huda Beauty's Eyeshadow Palettes are second to none, with the Mauve Obsessions Palette being in my top 3 eyeshadow palettes, and this product is no different. At first I was a little sceptical buying it because it was on sale on Cult Beauty and the idea of an all shimmer palette does slightly scare me but how wrong I was! Every shade is extremely pigmented and transfers onto the lid beautifully. Obviously it would be difficult to use this palette solely for an eyeshadow look due to the lack of matte shades but I am finding myself gravitating to it more and more when I want a shimmer shade rather than using the shades in my bigger palettes such as the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette, this could be because of the diverse colours, I mean there aren't many palettes out there with a green shadow are there? I love the fact that it is so compact because it is easy to travel with and compliments any other palettes you might be taking with you. If you want to get more creative with your eyeshadow looks and want a bit of shimmer in your life this is definitely a great product to use!
I hope that this March Favourites post has been interesting and will inspire you to try out some new Makeup products!
