Typology review (PR)

Typology review (PR)

Hello you lovely lot! I hope you've been having a great summer full of fun, adventures and plenty of spf!

Over the summer I have been trying out the wonderful French brand that is Typology, I was lucky enough to receive a personalised skincare routine from them to try out and I have been loving it! But before I delve into my thoughts about that I thought I would share a little information on this brand first!

The brand

Typology is a French brand that has the following mission statement:

"To demystify skincare with simple, straight-talking transparency. We make naturally active, effective and sustainable skincare in France"

The founder of this wonderful brand, Ning Li, wanted to take skincare back to basics due to the the world of skincare fast becoming a chemical based industry with exaggerated promises at the heart. In order to challenge this industry, Ning, along with a team of health and skincare experts created Typology- a brand that promises to sell premium products with the highest quality of ingredients for a great price!

My initial thoughts

When the Typology team reached out to me I have to admit I was very excited, although I did not know a whole lot about the brand and their ethos I had seen their products pop up on my Instagram feed and the beautiful, simplistic packaging and great reviews had stuck in my mind.

The team offered me a chance to do the skin diagnosis on their website so we were able to find the perfect skincare routine for me. The skin diagnosis consisted of a few questions about my skin type, my skin concerns and how it is currently feeling so we were able to find out my skin result (mine was AE-) and my prescription- a group of products that would make up my perfect skincare routine!

I found the process of using the online diagnostic test really simple and easy but also very thorough with all relevant questions. It is free on the Typology website and sends your results straight to your email. To use it use this link: Skin diagnostic .

Once I had confirmed all of the details my products hardly took any time at all to come! I was very impressed with the packaging too as all the products came in a relatively small box which had two layers with all of the products wrapped up safely inside.

The products

As stated previously I was gifted all products that were catered to my perfect skincare routine (I have dry skin so a lot was based upon hydration) and this also included a bag to keep them all in! So finally here we have it, the product reviews....

First up is the Hydrolate Organic Cornflower! This is one of the only products that I got any kind of smell from, I won't lie it wasn't my favourite smell but once absorbed into the skin I could't smell it for too long which is a bonus! This hydrolate is designed to reduce puffiness, especially under the eyes. I found this product very useful because my eye bags are a particularly problem area for me as I often get dark circles that can puff up. After a about a week of using a few drops of this stuff I did start to notice my skin feeling smoother and my  under eyes were certainly looking more healthy and less puffy!

Next is the 7- Ingredient Cleansing Oil. This product is fragrance free which I really like in any type of cleansing product because my skin is quite sensitive and can often react to some fragranced cleansers! This oil has a very thin and watery texture which takes your makeup off easily! I used this a couple of times on its own and once with my Be Glow Tia Face Massager and found that it worked better just using my hands because I found that the oil covered the device and made it hard to use. I had to use about 7-8 drops to ensure that all of my makeup was off but found that this works really well with either a cotton pad or just with your hands! It isn't sticky either and absorb into the skin beautifully.

I was also lucky enough to receive 4 serums in this bundle which I was very interested in because I'm not always a serum lover. The first one I tried was the Plumping Serum- 3% Hyaluronic Acid + 2% B5. As a dry skin warrior HA is one of my go to ingredients in skincare so I was very happy to find that this serum did not disappoint with its hydrating effects! After using 3 drops of this serum in my AM and PM routine I was happy to find that my skin felt thoroughly quenched and very soft to touch. Some other pro's to this is that in sank into the skin straight away and it was fragrance-free!

The next serum I tried was the Eye Serum- 5% Caffeine + 5% Niacinamide. This was beautiful! Eye serums are something that I have tried a fair bit in the past but not really got on well with because I have never found one that really makes a difference on my dark circles...until now! To be completely honest I don't know what Typology does to make this stuff so good because I have used both caffeine and niacinamide before for this purpose but somehow this blend is just different... my under eyes have never looked better, they're more luminous, less puffy and just glorious!

To be quite honest the next product wasn't my favourite unfortunately, the Dry Skin Serum- 100% Squalane did not seem to do much for me. Don't get me wrong, it did not react with my skin badly or break me out, it just did not seem to do a whole lot! This may be because I was trying out so many other hydrating products that it was just a little overshadowed. Although I did not see the reduction of fine lines and tightness around my skin which is some of the desired effects, I do not suffer with either of these issues regularly so perhaps was not looking out for them!

The final serum that I used was the Hydrating Night Serum Botanical Blend with Papyrus and I really liked it! Night Serums are another product that I find can be a little hit and miss for me but this one seemed to really agree with my skin. I applied a few drops every night before bed and found that it wasn't sticky and sank straight into the skin. Although this has a slight scent it didn't bother me at all, in fact I quite liked it. In the morning after use I found that my skin was fully hydrated, felt soft and looked luminous! I usually find night serums and creams hard to review because its often hard to see the results (in my opinion) but this was amazing!

All 4 of these serums were easy to use, came in cute bottles that look great in your collection. All of the droppers worked perfectly and they are all really travel friendly which I also love!

The penultimate product I am reviewing is the Hydrating Cleansing Bar with Palmrosa! This is not like anything I've tried before but I love the concept. I'm used to using The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing butter which is nothing like this product! I love the fact that this is not in packaging and can be left at the side of your bath or sink for easy access! This stuff also smells fantastic, very lemon like which is a definite winner for me and of course it works very well! Don't get me wrong I think it's a little more time consuming than some other cleansers but it does the job well, after use all of my make up is gone, my skin is left feeling soft and hydrated and it leaves no signs of redness or irritation!

Finally, we have my favourite of them all- the Nourishing Moisturiser- 1% Hyaluronic Acid + Shea Butter. The first thing that drew me to this product is the packaging! Recently I've been obsessed with the tube moisturisers because they are so easy to carry around with you, they are easier to use and you are able to use all of the product up! Next up was the smell... this stuff smells amazing! Just like a Bakewell tart or Amoretto- anything almond smelling is a winner for me so this is just my dream! These factors aside, the actual product works really well too. The texture isn't as thick as I was expecting, it was fairly thin but I found that this made the product easy to absorb into my skin. As with most of the other products this has really helped make my skin look and feel super hydrated without breaking it out! This is definitely my go to moisturiser at the moment!

Overall

To conclude this very lengthy review I would have to say that I am obsessed with this range! Non of the products reacted badly with my skin at all and I have noticed great improvements in my dry skin type. All of the products complimented each other and although I would not necessarily use all of them together all the time each product holds their own which I love. This brand is certainly an affordable, environmentally friendly asset to the skincare community and I will definitely continue to use and talk about their products!

I would like to say a huge thank you to Typology for gifting me this range and you can check them out either via their website: https://uk.typology.com or their Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/typologyparis/  (@typologyparis).
